Volcanoes National Park

Nestled in Rwanda’s northwest, Volcanoes National Park is world-renowned as one of the last strongholds of the endangered mountain gorilla. This misty, mystical park spans over 160 square kilometers of rainforest and volcanic terrain, forming part of the Virunga Massif, a chain of extinct and active volcanoes shared between Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC.

Volcanoes is more than just gorillas. It’s a sanctuary of conservation history, where Dian Fossey once conducted her legendary research, and where rare wildlife thrives under Rwanda’s model of community-driven conservation.
