Nyungwe Forest National Park
Nyungwe Forest National Park is a sprawling, primeval rainforest in southwestern Rwanda, bordering Burundi and overlooking Lake Kivu. Covering over 1,000 square kilometers, it is one of the oldest and most biologically rich tropical forests in Africa, having survived the last Ice Age. Nyungwe is home to an astonishing array of flora and fauna, including 13 primate species, over 300 bird species, and a dense network of hiking trails that wind through canopies, waterfalls, and orchid-filled clearings.
For travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility, Nyungwe delivers a rare chance to walk amid ancient trees, hear the calls of chimpanzees echoing through the mist, and experience a true ecological wonder.
