Day 1: Arrival in Johannesburg

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Johannesburg. Spend the rest of the day at leisure — you can unwind after your flight or opt for a short visit to the nearby Mandela Square or the Apartheid Museum to get a glimpse into South Africa’s past.

Day 2: Johannesburg to Pilanesberg National Park

After breakfast, hit the road on a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Pilanesberg National Park. Once you arrive and check into your safari lodge, head out for your first afternoon game drive. Pilanesberg offers a diverse landscape of hills and plains, and it’s home to the Big Five, making your first safari outing both exciting and memorable.

Day 3: Full Day Safari in Pilanesberg

Wake early for a sunrise game drive when animal activity is at its peak. With luck, you might spot elephants bathing, lions on the prowl, or rhinos grazing. Return for breakfast, relax at the lodge, then set out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. Pilanesberg’s layout allows excellent opportunities for both predators and prey viewing.

Day 4: Final Safari & Return to Johannesburg

Enjoy one last early morning game drive to catch any wildlife you may have missed. After breakfast, transfer back to Johannesburg for an overnight stay. The evening is yours — consider dining at a local restaurant to enjoy South African cuisine like bobotie or braai.

Day 5: Fly to Cape Town – Scenic Introduction

After breakfast, fly from Johannesburg to Cape Town. A driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel near the city center. Depending on your arrival time, take a relaxed walk along the V&A Waterfront or visit the bustling Greenmarket Square for local crafts.

Day 6: Cape Town City & Table Mountain

Start the day with a visit to the top of Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting), offering stunning views over the city, beaches, and Robben Island. Then enjoy a city tour covering historical highlights such as the Castle of Good Hope, the Company’s Garden, and the colorful houses of Bo-Kaap. Spend the evening exploring Cape Town’s culinary scene.

Day 7: Cape Peninsula Exploration

Embark on a guided full-day tour along the Cape Peninsula. Travel through Hout Bay and Chapman’s Peak, reach the dramatic cliffs of Cape Point, and see where the two oceans meet. Then stop by Boulders Beach to admire the colony of African penguins. The day ends with a peaceful coastal drive back to Cape Town.

Day 8: Robben Island or Cultural Experience

Use this day to explore at your own pace. You can take a ferry to Robben Island to learn about Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment, or choose a guided township tour to see local community life. In the afternoon, shop at local markets or relax at Camps Bay beach.

Day 9: Departure from Cape Town

After a relaxed morning, you’ll be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight home, concluding a well-rounded South African adventure.
