Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Maun – Fly to the Okavango Delta
Upon arrival at Maun International Airport, you will be met by a representative and assisted to your light aircraft for a scenic flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. The bird’s-eye view reveals winding channels, glistening lagoons, and wildlife below. Once you land, a warm welcome awaits at your luxury camp nestled in a private concession. After settling into your elegant suite, enjoy a peaceful mokoro (dugout canoe) ride through the water channels, watching herons, kingfishers, and maybe even a bathing elephant. Your evening is capped with fine dining beneath the stars and the soothing sounds of the African bush.
Day 2: Okavango Delta – Water and Land-Based Exploration
Start the day with a sunrise game drive in open 4×4 vehicles, where you may encounter red lechwe bounding through the wetlands, elephants crossing the floodplains, and predators on the move. Return for a hearty brunch and unwind during the warm afternoon in the privacy of your tent or with a spa treatment. As the day cools, embark on a sunset boat cruise — a magical way to observe hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Dinner is served al fresco with wine and stories from your guide.
Day 3: Fly to Moremi Game Reserve
After breakfast, board your next flight to a camp located near the Moremi Game Reserve — a region considered one of Africa’s finest wildlife areas. Your new base offers sweeping views over riverine forests and seasonal floodplains. In the afternoon, head out on a game drive through the mopane woodlands and grassy savannas. Moremi is renowned for its high predator densities, and sightings of lions, wild dogs, or leopards are common. Return in time for sundowners and a gourmet dinner.
Day 4: Moremi – Full-Day Big Game Safari
Spend the entire day exploring Moremi and its private concession. Morning and afternoon game drives take you deep into the wilderness where you can spot large herds of buffalo, towers of giraffes, stealthy hyenas, and birdlife aplenty. Stop for a bush picnic lunch beneath a shady tree before continuing your search for elusive cats or rare antelope. After a thrilling day on safari, unwind with drinks by the fire and a three-course dinner served in the boma.
Day 5: Fly to Chobe National Park (Riverfront Region)
Today, you’ll fly northeast to the Chobe Riverfront, home to Africa’s largest population of elephants. Upon arrival at your river-view lodge, enjoy lunch and relax with views over the water. Later in the afternoon, join a sunset cruise on the Chobe River — one of the best ways to observe large herds of elephants as they drink, bathe, and cross the water. Expect to also see hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and a dramatic sky as the sun dips below the horizon.
Day 6: Chobe – River and Savanna Safari Experience
Start with an early morning game drive through Chobe National Park, where lions, leopards, and even rare sable antelope roam. After breakfast back at the lodge, take time to relax or enjoy optional activities like a spa treatment or cultural visit. In the afternoon, set off again on a boat safari, this time venturing further into the winding channels of the river, capturing stunning photographs of wildlife and birdlife from a unique perspective.
Day 7: Fly to the Makgadikgadi Pans
Depart Chobe and fly south to the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans — one of the most unusual and visually striking landscapes in Africa. Your lodge, perched on the edge of this vast white expanse, offers a completely different experience. In the afternoon, hop on a quad bike and ride across the otherworldly pans, or visit with habituated meerkats and watch them interact up close. As evening falls, you’ll dine under an endless sky shimmering with stars, perhaps sleeping out on a private deck if conditions allow.
Day 8: Meerkats, San Culture, and Salt Pan Silence
Begin your day by walking out onto the pans to watch the sunrise over the horizon in silence. Later, you’ll meet a group of meerkats at their burrows and observe their natural behavior. After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk with a local San Bushman who will share insights into traditional survival skills, plant uses, and tracking. The rest of your day can be spent relaxing, reading, or soaking in the surreal beauty of this ancient desert before a final elegant dinner.
Day 9: Flight to Maun – Departure
After a leisurely breakfast, catch your final charter flight back to Maun, where you will be assisted for your international flight or onward journey. If desired, this safari can be extended with time in Victoria Falls or Cape Town.
