Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Welcome to Rwanda

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and meet your friendly guide who will escort you to your accommodation in the city. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a short orientation drive or relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Culture, Art & Remembrance

Spend the day exploring Kigali’s historical and cultural sites. Begin at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then visit the Nyamirambo Women’s Center for a community-led walking tour, showcasing local food, fashion, and stories. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to rest.

Day 3: Journey to Akagera National Park – Into the Savannah

After breakfast, depart Kigali and head east to Akagera National Park. Arriving in time for lunch, you’ll spend the afternoon on a game drive through Rwanda’s only savannah park. Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and maybe even lions returning to the region.

Day 4: Full-Day Safari in Akagera National Park

Start early for a full day of wildlife exploration. Akagera’s rolling grasslands, lakes, and woodlands provide habitat for a wide range of animals, including hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and antelope. Stop for a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing the drive into more remote areas for birdwatching and game spotting.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest – A Journey Through Rwanda’s Heart

After breakfast, you’ll travel south across Rwanda’s beautiful interior to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey is long but scenic, taking you past tea plantations and mountain landscapes. Arrive in the late afternoon and settle in, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk in Nyungwe

Set off early into Nyungwe’s dense forest for a guided chimpanzee trek. Watch as families of chimps swing and play in the trees. Later, experience Rwanda from above on the canopy walkway—a thrilling suspension bridge through the treetops with breathtaking views of the rainforest.

Day 7: Return to Kigali via Cultural Stops

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before beginning your journey back to Kigali. Along the way, you may stop at cultural centers, crafts markets, or historical sites to round out your understanding of Rwandan heritage. Arrive in Kigali in the evening for a final night in the city.

Day 8: Departure

Depending on your flight time, you may have the opportunity for some last-minute shopping or relaxing before heading to the airport. Your driver-guide will assist with your transfer and wave you off warmly.
