Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Gateway to the Land of a Thousand Hills

Arrive at Kigali International Airport where your guide will meet you. After check-in, you’ll get a chance to explore the city’s atmosphere. Depending on arrival time, you may take a brief city tour or enjoy a relaxed evening in the city’s friendly neighborhoods.

Day 2: Kigali City & Genocide Memorial – Then Off to Akagera

Start the morning with a moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, learning about Rwanda’s past and the country’s inspiring recovery. After lunch, depart for Akagera National Park. The road trip east offers rolling hills and rural views. Arrive in time to enjoy a lakeside sunset and prepare for your safari.

Day 3: Akagera Game Drive – Wildlife in Rwanda’s Only Savannah Park

Set off early for a half-day game drive through Akagera National Park. Watch for elephants, giraffes, impalas, and warthogs, along with hippos and crocodiles near the lakes. After the drive, enjoy a picnic lunch and a short scenic boat ride on Lake Ihema (optional, based on timing and budget). Return to the camp in the late afternoon to relax.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze – Northern Highlands and Volcano Views

Today, travel northwest toward the volcanic highlands around Volcanoes National Park. As you ascend, the landscape shifts to terraced farmlands, small villages, and dramatic mountain scenery. Arrive in Musanze (Ruhengeri) and settle into simple but cozy accommodation. Optional evening walk through local communities.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking – A Unique Forest Encounter

Rise early and head to the edge of Volcanoes National Park to track golden monkeys—playful, rare primates that live in the bamboo forests at the park’s lower altitudes. After the trek, you can visit the nearby Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for insights into traditional Rwandan life and royal customs. Spend the afternoon at leisure or stroll through Musanze town.

Day 6: Return to Kigali & Departure
