This journey is ideal for those who want to experience Botswana’s untamed landscapes without compromising on comfort, and with a friendly group spirit and knowledgeable local guides to enrich every step.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Maun – Safari Briefing & Rest
Welcome to Maun, the safari gateway to Botswana! Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your comfortable lodge on the outskirts of town. Settle in, take a swim, or rest up before joining your guide and fellow travelers for a briefing about the adventure ahead. The evening is yours to enjoy dinner under the stars and soak in the excitement of the journey to come.
Day 2: Drive to Okavango Delta – Dugout Canoes & Wilderness Camping
After breakfast, depart by 4×4 towards the southern reaches of the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, local mokoro (canoe) polers will escort you through the tranquil channels to your remote bush camp. The next two days will be an immersive wilderness experience — no fences, no crowds, just you and nature. Settle into your tented camp with basic but comfortable setups. In the afternoon, go on a nature walk led by a local guide and learn about the delicate delta ecosystem.
Day 3: Okavango Delta – Walking Safari & Mokoro Exploration
Wake up to birdsong and the distant call of hippos. Today, your guide will take you on early morning and late afternoon walks, tracking wildlife on foot and learning about traditional survival skills. In between, relax in camp, enjoy simple, freshly cooked meals, and take another mokoro excursion through lily-lined channels. The delta’s serenity is unlike anywhere else, and the stargazing at night is phenomenal.
Day 4: Drive to Moremi Game Reserve – Wildlife Spotting Begins
Bid farewell to the delta and travel by 4×4 into the Moremi Game Reserve, known for its rich mix of woodland and wetlands. After setting up camp in a designated wildlife area, head out on an afternoon game drive. Moremi is home to elephants, giraffes, antelope, lions, leopards, and African wild dogs, and your first taste of game viewing here is likely to be exciting. Return to camp for dinner and stories around the fire.
Day 5: Moremi – Full-Day Game Drive Adventure
Today you’ll enjoy a full day of game viewing with picnic lunch in the bush. Your guide will take you deeper into the reserve’s diverse habitats, from mopane forests to floodplains. Moremi’s wildlife density ensures consistent sightings, and with luck, you might witness predator action or even a rare leopard sighting. In the evening, relax with a hot meal and a well-earned rest in camp.
Day 6: Travel to Savuti – Big Cats & Harsh Beauty
Depart early for the drive to Savuti, a legendary region within Chobe National Park famed for its rugged terrain and high predator presence. The route itself offers game-viewing opportunities en route, and your camp will be set in the heart of the bush. In the afternoon, set out for a drive where lions, hyenas, and elephants are common sights. The dramatic landscape — dotted with baobabs and dry riverbeds — adds to the atmosphere.
Day 7: Savuti to Chobe Riverfront – River Encounters
After a sunrise game drive, continue northeast to the Chobe Riverfront. Arrive at your lodge in Kasane, where air-conditioned rooms and a swimming pool await. The shift from the dry Savuti to the lush Chobe floodplains is striking. In the late afternoon, embark on a relaxing boat cruise along the Chobe River, where you’ll witness huge elephant herds drinking, crocodiles sunbathing, and buffalo grazing along the riverbanks.
Day 8: Chobe National Park – Game Drive & Cruise Combo
Today includes both a morning game drive in the park and an afternoon boat cruise. Chobe is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants, especially during the dry season. Your guide will help you track lions and spot rare antelope species. Later, drift along the river again, watching the African sunset reflect off the water while wildlife congregates on the banks.
Day 9: Transfer to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
After breakfast, cross the border into Zimbabwe and transfer to your lodge near Victoria Falls. Once checked in, head out for a guided walking tour of the falls — a thunderous, breathtaking experience as water crashes into the Zambezi Gorge. The rest of the day is at leisure; you can visit local craft markets, enjoy high tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel, or book optional adrenaline activities such as bungee jumping, zip-lining, or a helicopter flight.
Day 10: Departure from Victoria Falls
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight. You leave Botswana and Zimbabwe with unforgettable memories, photographs, and perhaps a few grains of Kalahari dust in your bag.
